시놉시스Synopsis
예술가이자 영화감독인 필리페 모라는 홀로코스트에서 살아남은 부모님의 이야기를 담은 만화책을 만들기 위해 여정을 떠난다. 전쟁이 끝난 후 필리페의 가족은 호주에 정착했는데, 필리페는 1950년대 멜버른 중심의 예술적인 거리에서 성장했다. 필리페의 부모님은 프랑스어를 매우 유창하게 구사하고 마요네즈를 사랑했다. 그리고 아버지는 독일을 정말 싫어했는데, 왜 마요네즈는 좋아하고 독일은 유독 싫어했는지 그 이유에 대해서는 알지 못했다. 필리페는 성인이 된 후에서야 사실 아버지가 독일에서 태어났고, 비밀리에 프랑스 레지스탕스를 위해 일하며 “무슈 마요네즈”라는 암호명을 썼다는 사실을 알게 된다. 그리고 아버지의 삶에 대해 더 알기 위해 떠난 여행에서 그는 아버지가 전설적인 마임의 거장 마르셀 마르소와 함께 나치로부터 아이들을 구출해냈으며, 그 과정에서 바게트와 마요네즈가 중요한 역할을 했다는 것을 알게 된다. 2017년 베를린국제영화제 상영작.
Artist and filmmaker Philippe Mora embarks on a journey to create an audacious comic book about his parents and their survival of the Holocaust. After the war, they settled in Australia and Philippe grew up in the epicentre of the 1950s Melbourne café-arts scene. His parents spoke French and loved mayonnaise. His father also hated all-things German, but was enigmatic and mysterious about why and much more... Philippe only discovers as an adult that his father was born in Germany, secretly worked for the French Resistance and was code-named ‘Monsieur Mayonnaise’. He sets off to track down those who knew his father, and soon uncovers the real story behind his father’s mysterious code name, his work with legendary mime artist Marcel Marceau and their connection to nuns, Nazi border guards and baguettes with lashings of tasty French mayonnaise!

호주에서 30년 이상 활동해온 감독, 프로듀서, 작가이다. 그의 다큐멘터리들은 호주는 물론 세계 곳곳에서 상영 및 방영됐다. 1997년, 토레스 해협 머레이 섬에서 주거권을 지키기 위해 투쟁에 나선 에디 마보의 다큐멘터리 <Mabo: Life of An Island Man>을 쓰고 연출해 호주영화연구소에서 주는 최우수다큐멘터리상을 수상했다. 2010년 시드니기술대학에서 창조 예술 박사학위를 받았다. 2002년과 2003년에 걸쳐 아넘랜드에 거주하면서 ABC TV 다큐멘터리 <Lonely Boy Richard>를 연출했고, 이 작품은 2004년 AFI 최우수다큐멘터리상 후보에 올랐다. 2012년에 쓰고 연출한 장편 다큐멘터리 <후무스 이야기>는 베를린국제영화제를 포함해 60곳이 넘는 영화제와 음식축제에서 상영됐다. 2016년에 공동 제작, 연출한 <무슈 마요네즈>는 멜버른국제영화제에서 상영되기도 했다. 2020년 이탈리아 북서부에 위치한 아스티에서 3년 동안 촬영한 <셰프 안토니오의 혁명을 위한 레시피>를 완성했다.
Trevor Graham has worked as a writer, producer, and director in the Australian film industry for over 30 years. His documentaries have been screened and broadcast nationally and around the world. In 1997 he directed <Mabo: Life of an Island Man>, a feature film about Indigenous land rights in Australia which won the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Documentary. In 2010 Graham was awarded a Doctorate in Creative Arts from the University of Technology, Sydney. Throughout 2002 and 2003 Graham lived for a year in Arnhem Land where he directed and filmed <Lonely Boy Richard> for ABC TV, was nominated for an AFI Award Best Documentary in 2004. Graham wrote & directed <Make Hummus Not War> in 2012 for the Melbourne International Film Festival’s Premiere Fund. It went on to screen at the Berlin Film Festival’s Culinary Cinema section and over 60 international film and food events. <Monsieur Mayonnaise> is Graham’s ninth film which has screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival. In 2020 Graham completed <Chef Antonio's Recipes for Revolution> which filmed over a 3-year period in Asti, north-west Italy.
