시놉시스Synopsis
아무도 세계적인 유행병의 시기에 꿈의 식당을 열 것이라고 예상하지 않을 것이다. <카사마만한 곳은 없다>는 미쉐린 스타를 받은 파인다이닝 업계를 떠나 그들의 평생 꿈인 이웃을 위한 식당을 여는 수상 경력이 있는 요리사 지니 권과 팀 플로레스의 이야기다. 그들이 건물을 계약한 뒤 2주 후 코로나19가 세계를 강타하고 팬데믹 락다운 속에서 시카고의 외식업은 큰 타격을 입는다. 정부의 규정은 매일 달라졌고 그들은 실시간으로 바뀌는 규정에 적응해야 했다. 핸드메이드 식기류는 배달용 포장 용기로, 식탁 의자는 야외용 히터로 바뀌었고, 식당은 최소의 인원으로 운영되었다. 두 셰프는 식당이 살아남기를 바라며 2020년을 버텨내고 있다.
No one expects to open their dream restaurant during a global pandemic. <No Place Like Kasama> follows award-winning chefs Genie Kwon and Tim Flores after they leave the Michelin-starred fine dining world to realize their lifelong dream—opening a neighborhood spot. Two weeks after they acquire the building, COVID-19 hits. Chicago is thrown into lockdown, destroying the restaurant industry. State regulations change daily, forcing them to adapt in real time. Handmade dinnerware shifts to takeout containers. Dining chairs to patio heaters. Full staff to skeleton crew. The chef duo perseveres through 2020 in hopes that their restaurant will survive.

잘 알려지지 않은 이야기를 재조명하는데 열정적인 다큐멘터리 감독이다. 비디오 저널리즘과 전략적인 크리에이티브 스토리텔링을 기반으로 촬영감독 및 편집감독으로도 활동 중이다. 그녀의 작업은 CNN, MSNBC, 워싱턴포스트, USA투데이 등의 매체에 소개되었다. 어린 시절을 싱가포르와 상하이에서 보낸 덕에 다양한 문화를 잘 받아들이며 남다른 호기심과 공감 능력으로 이야기를 만들어내고 있다. 이런 경험을 바탕으로, 일본계 브라질 출신 스모 선수에 대한 단편 영화, 25세 저널리스트의 암 투병기를 다룬 다큐 시리즈, GLAAD의 LGBT미디어상 후보에 올랐던 작품인 안젤리카 로스의 전기 영화 등을 감독하고 제작했다.
Kerri is a documentary filmmaker passionate about bringing underrepresented stories to the forefront. With a foundation in video journalism and strategic creative storytelling, she is also a cinematographer and editor. Her work has been published on CNN, MSNBC, Washington Post, USA Today, and more. As a third culture kid who grew up in Singapore and Shanghai, Kerri leads with curiosity and empathy, creating space for stories to unfold. She has directed and produced a short on Japanese Brazilian sumo wrestlers, a docu-series on a 25-year-old journalist fighting cancer, and a profile piece on Angelica Ross that was nominated for a GLAAD Award.
