시놉시스Synopsis
콧수염에 중산모자, 지팡이와 익살맞은 걸음걸이로 잊을 수 없는 수많은 명장면들을 남긴 희극배우이자 감독 찰리 채플린. 그의 영화에서는 음식 또는 먹는 행위를 통해 인생의 희로애락과 사회상을 함축적으로 드러낸 장면들을 종종 만날 수 있다. <황금광시대>에서 황금을 찾아 나선 이들 다수가 굶주림에 시달렸던 현실을 반영한 ‘추수감사절 식사’와 연모하는 여인을 기다리는 남자의 설렘을 표현한 ‘롤 빵 댄스’, 급속한 산업화와 자본주의에 대한 풍자가 담긴 <모던 타임즈>의 ‘급식기계’ 등 채플린 영화 속 ‘먹는’ 명장면을 일부 모은 편집 영상. With the iconic image of little tramp having a mustache, a bowler hat and a cane, comic actor and filmmaker Charlie Chaplin has made some of the greatest classics both in silent and sound ear. Dinner with Chaplin is a short compilation of Charlie Chaplin’s indelible food gags and eating scenes, which are used not only to provide hilarious moments but also to imply social satire on the phases of his times. Excerpts from several Chaplin films such as the famous “Thanksgiving dinner” and “roll dance” from The Gold Rush and the “eating machine” from Modern Times will provide an entertaining yet thought-provoking time to audience.

1889년 영국 런던 출생. 1914년 첫 영화를 발표한 이래 <모던 타임즈>, <위대한 독재자> 등 무성과 유성영화를 넘나들며 작품활동을 했다. 무성영화 시대 최고의 제작자이자 감독, 배우였던 채플린은 1952년 <라임라이트>를 제작한 후 스위스에 정착, 1977년 88세의 나이로 사망했다.
Born in 1889 in London, England. Since announcing his first film in 1914, he was worked in various classic films from silent to sound films including Modern Times, and The Great Dictator. He was the most prolific producer, director and actor of the silent film era. He later settled in Switzerland, and passed away in 1977 at the age of 88.
